BOA supports Power Cable Repairs in Nuuk, Greenland

BOA has just completed its contribution to the record-breaking repair of the Ameralik Fjord power line, helping secure the supply of renewable energy to Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.

For this unique operation, carried out by Kraftmontasje, BOA provided mooring analysis and Mooring Master, assist tug Hunter, as well as BOABARGE 32, 65 x 17 m flat-top cargo barge.

BOABARGE 32 was used as a working platform and operational base for pulling pilot ropes, wires and finally the conductor cable from the barge at sea level up to the north mast 500m above sea level, and then across the 5657 m fjord span to the south mast, located 1000m above sea level.

The 5657 m crossing represents by far the longest free span of its kind in the world - a remarkable engineering and operational achievement.

BOA sincerely appreciate the award of this contract and would like to thank Kraftmontasje and Nukissiorfiit for their close cooperation, excellent teamwork, and professional execution throughout this project.

We look forward to our continued collaboration.
