Load-on, Transport, and Float-off of Main Plinth for Storstrøm Bridge:
A Major Engineering Feat by BOA

BOA was appointed as the main contractor for the load-on, transport, and float-off of the Main Plinth for the new Storstrøm Bridge. This project involved the handling of Plinth 1C, a massive structure weighing approximately 12,250 tons, measuring 34 meters in width, 42 meters in length, and standing 21 meters tall.

The operation began with the Plinth being loaded onto BOABARGE 34 by skidding. Once securely positioned on the barge, BOABARGE 34 was towed and moored in a 4-point pre-laid mooring system close to the installation site. The barge was then submerged to a depth of 21.5 meters aft and 17 meters forward, allowing the Plinth to safely float free. The Plinth was subsequently towed to its final position.

BOA was responsible for all engineering and operational management of the barge during the load-out and float-off, ensuring a seamless and efficient process. This project not only demonstrated BOA’s expertise in managing large-scale maritime operations but also highlighted their capability to handle complex engineering challenges with precision and care. The successful execution of this project underscores BOA’s commitment to delivering high-quality solutions in the maritime industry.
