BOA Successfully Completes Key Marine Operation for Åstfjordbrua Bridge Construction

BOA played a critical role in the construction, transportation, and float-off of two Gravity Based Substructures (GBSs) aboard the BOABARGE 33, which will serve as foundational pillars for the Åstfjordbrua bridge.

After construction, the BOABARGE 33 was moved approximately 200 meters to carry out a free-floating submersion, allowing for the smooth float-off of the GBS units. These structures were then expertly towed by tugboats to their final location.

BOA’s in-house engineering team managed the entire marine operation, including the shifting and offshore submersion. Their comprehensive work covered everything from a design brief and barge deflection analysis to ballasting procedures, motion response analysis, an operations manual, barge mooring analysis, and a structural design report.

This project showcases BOA’s expertise and capability in overseeing complex marine operations, as they took full responsibility for the successful float-off of the GBS units.
